THE FIRST RESURRECTION - THE N.O.I. 1930-1975
I completed this pencil drawing in the mid 1980s to capture changes in the leadership of the Nation of Islam from the 1930s to 1975. I had the honor of presenting Imam W. Deen (RAA) a copy of this drawing in 2003 before his transition. Imam Mohammed sparkled major changes in the N.O.I. that began in 1975 under his leadership. Copies of this print are available upon request ($15 plus shipping).
SANDAYGA MARKET DRUMMERS
While in Dakkar, Senegal, West Africa in 1999, I witnessed these drummers coming through the city market near the end of each business day. I assumed that their presence proceed the closing of the market. This drawing was completed in 2002 using colored pencils.
ZULU WARRIORS
In the early 1980s, I completed this pencil and wolfe carbon (charcoal) drawing. The two dancers were friends of mine who were with a dance troupe from Newark, NJ, in an organization, Committee for a Unitifed Newark, headed by Imamu Amiri Baraka (Poet and Author LeRoy Jones). Copies of this print are available upon request, $15, plus shipping.
NORTH AFRICAN QUEEN NEFERITI
This pencil and charcoal drawing was commissioned in 2009. It is an African American lady from the Washington DC area who wanted to be drawn in the attire of Egyptian Queen Neferiti.
ANGER YOUNG MAN SELF PORTRAIT 1974
